Looking for some entertaining and educational things to do? The Farm at Prophetstown has a wide variety of classes, farm to table dinners and events to take part in all throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall. Come check out The Farm At Prophetstown and see what they have to offer.

What is the Farm At Prophetstown?

The Farm At Prophetstown is modeled after a typical farm from the 1920’s. It showcases sustainable agriculture and a sampling of heritage breed animals that could have been found on farms in the 1920’s. You will find two farm houses that serve as museums to show how families lived in the 1920’s, a beautiful barn, blacksmith shop, chicken coops and other places for visitors to explore.

The Farm hosts farm raises grass fed meats, eggs, and fruits and vegetables right from their property. Be sure to stop by and purchase some locally grown food or sign up for one of their popular farm to table meals and taste what the Farm has to offer.

The Farm at Prophetstown draws a variety of people to help educate for the programs and events hosted. Included are beekeepers, master gardeners, farm professionals and home economics experts. Lets not forget some of the stars of the Farm guest can interact with, including, horses, cows, sheep, pigs, donkeys, chickens, ducks and turkeys.

When Is The Farm At Prophetstown Open?

Starting April 1st The Farm At Prophetstown is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

4/10/2021 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Class- Gourd Birdhouses – An afternoon of crafting and making birdhouses out of gourds grown right at The Farm! Registration required, call 765-567-4700. $20 per person includes park admission.

4/11/2021 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Class- Quick Pickling On The Farm – Chef Lauren will be teaching how to make her favorite quick pickles and other pickled veggies. Take home your pickled items and enjoy! Registration required, call 765-567-4700 per person. $20 per person, includes park admission.

4/17/2021 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM Birds of a Feather, from the 1920’s to the 2020’s – Join Barb Lucas in the discussion of how feathers sparked the formation of the Audubon Society and led to regulations still in use today. FREE with park admission.

4/24/2021 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM Class- Broom Making: Cobweb Broom- Bev Larson will teach this hands on class of traditional cobweb broom making. Various stick sizes will be available and choice of cord to tie your broom. Registration required call 765-567-4700. $50 per person.

5/01/2021 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Class – Raising Chickens: The Basics – If you are interested in learning about raising chickens, come to The Farm and learn the basics, benefits, and expectations of raising laying hens. Hands on class and the ability to interact with the flock. FREE with park admission.

5/08/2021 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Preorder Heirloom Vegetable and Herb Plant Sale – Preorder event for heirloom vegetable plants and herbs grown at The Farm in the DNR greenhouse. Your purchase supports The Farm At Prophetstown. Call 765-567-4700 to learn more about the sale, FREE with park admission.

5/15/2021 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Efficiency in The Kitchen: Labor Saving “Hoosier” Kitchen Cabinet – Checkout how the Hoosier cabinets claimed to reduce the drudgery of kitchen tasks and try to streamline the processes in the kitchen. FREE with park admission.

5/22/2021 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM Class – Crafting Treats for Farm Animals – Help build treat toys for the animals including the chickens, horses, JJ the donkey and a whole host of other hungry critters. Watch the animals enjoy their treats. FREE with park admission.

5/26/2021 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM Super Moon Walk – Enjoy a discussion of the importance of astrology information in the Old Farmer’s Almanac. Joined by The Wabash Valley Astronomical Society for an information talk about super moons. Then head out on the prairie to see the super moon. FREE with park admission.

5/29/2021 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Living History on The Farm: Chores in The Barn- Time warp back to the 1920’s and learn from an actor playing Henry Grey, a Gibson farmstead farm hand speaking about chores and automation on Wabash Valley farms. FREE with park admission.

6/05/2021 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM A Step Back in Music History: The Life of The Player Piano- Learn about player pianos in the Gibson Farmhouse Parlor from Northside Music. Guest will have the opportunity to try the 1926 Gulbransen piano. FREE with park admission.

6/12/2021 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM Family Day – Fun filled day on the farm including music, games, food, animals and more! See Scott Greeson play his unique Americana folk music in the barn from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. FREE with park admission.

12/04/2021 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Holiday on The Farm – Join the Farm staff in decorating the house for the season. Take part in the fun with holiday music, hot chocolate, cookies and popcorn and we celebrate the festive season. NO park admission charge.
